Ghilli is a 2015 Indian Tamil action thriller film written and directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan. The film stars Vikram, Jiiva, Hansika Motwani and Srikanth in the lead roles. Produced by C. V. Kumar for Thirupathi Brothers Film Media Ltd., music for the film was composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja while cinematography was handled by Prasad Murella. It released on 6 August 2015 to mixed reviews from critics but it was a commercial success at the box office grossing ₹30 crore worldwide. The film was officially launched on 30 May 2013 with Vikram signed on to play the lead role with Shakti Soundar Rajan making his directorial debut, C. V. Kumar producing the venture under the banner of Thirupathi Brothers Film Media with Yuvan Shankar Raja's tunes in progress, Prasad Murella was selected as the cinematographer and A. L. Vijay as the editor. The release date of January 2014 was not met and the makers chose to release it in August 2015 after they completed filming pending works including shooting a few scenes at locations outside India. A remake of the Telugu film "Yevadu" (2013), principal photography began on 22 January 2014 at Hyderabad. The film was shot primarily in locations around Chennai Deynar Gopi's house, which was chosen due to its similarity to the original film's house. Filming continued till March 2014 until they started on set decoration and costume designing at Chennai. The same cast reprise their roles for this version of the film with Vikram making his Tamil debut, Jiiva opting out of the project at first but later signed on after Shankar agreed to cast him in his next project. The film's shooting schedule was completed in 45 days and in July and August 2014. The film was later postponed in April 2015 and in June 2015 the makers announced the release in August 2015 after they finished shooting pending works including shooting a few scenes at locations outside India. The film's score and soundtrack is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja while its cinematography is handled by cinematographer Prasad Murella. The film marked the second collaboration between Vikram and director Shakti Soundar Rajan, after "Kochadaiiyaan", with son Vikram Jr., only making his acting debut here. It also marked the third collaboration between Vikram and editor A. L. Vijay after "Saamy" (2003) and "Kochadaiiyaan" (2014). After the release of the film's first look posters on 18 July 2014. The official trailer for the film was released on 15 July 2015 followed by an action poster featuring Vikram, Jiiva and Hansika Motwani. The satellite rights of the film were sold to Jaya TV. While Maa Music was announced to be the official music partner for the movie, with title song composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja himself. The movie is also dubbed in Telugu as "Abhimanyudu".
